The Department of Computer Science has a scientific school of Professor Dovbysh Anatolii Stepanovych. The scientific school of the department has developed a progressive information-extreme intellectual technology for designing intelligent learning systems. The main scientific unit of the department, which ensures the implementation of research and development by representatives of the scientific school, is the problematic research laboratory of intelligent systems. The results of the laboratory’s work are implemented in the industry of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, in the development of new distance learning technologies at the university, in the medical and military spheres. Over the past five years, A. Dovbysh and the staff of the Problem Laboratory of Intelligent Systems have published more than 150 scientific articles and abstracts in professional journals in Ukraine and abroad.

The department carries out research work in the following areas:

  • analysis and synthesis of learning (self-learning) intelligent control systems for poorly formalized processes (supervisor: Professor A.S. Dovbysh, PhD);
    • intelligent decision support systems for automation of poorly formalized technological processes
    • algorithms and information technology tools for analysis and synthesis of the educational process management system
    • information technologies for designing onboard autonomous navigation systems for unmanned aerial vehicles
    • information analysis and synthesis of intellectual components of computerized medical diagnostic systems
    • intelligent technologies for information and/or cybersecurity
  • mathematical and computational models in economics (supervisor: Member of the American Mathematical Society, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor V. Kalashnikov);
  • theoretical and practical aspects of the application of disproportionality functions (supervisor, PhD, associate professor V. Avramenko);
  • розроблення моделей і методів забезпечення резільєнтності систем штучного інтелекту до атак, новизни в даних або зміни середовища (науковий керівник, к.т.н., доцент В.В. Москаленко);
    • development of artificial intelligence models and methods for analyzing multimodal sensor information of unmanned aerial vehicles
    • development of models and methods for optimizing the resilience of artificial intelligence systems to destructive influences in conditions of limited resources
    • development of models and methods for controlled degradation of artificial intelligence systems under the influence of destructive factors
    • development of algorithmic and software for intelligent machine vision systems and natural language understanding and generation systems.
